Following links from Microsoft Office breaks Raven
There is a known issue where clicking links from inside Microsoft Office will give generate the wrong cookies for Raven resulting in a cryptic error https://help.uis.cam.ac.uk/service/accounts-passwords/it-staff/raven/raven-faqs/n10
It seems like Office follows the redirects all the way to the Raven login and sends the browser there, rather than just sending it to the URL in the link.
To replicate:
- Created a hyperlink to a lookup profile in MS Word document e.g. https://lookup.phy.cam.ac.uk/people/CRSid
- Closed browser so no longer logged in to Raven.
- Ctrl+clicked on a hyperlink to open the link in default browser (Firefox).
- Microsoft Word Security Warning popup: ‘Certificate error – The application experienced an internal error loading the SSL libraries.’
- Clicked OK. Firefox opens at Raven login page.
- Logged in using Raven password.
Error – missing cookie – The web resource you are trying to access is protected by a system that uses a browser cookie to track your authentication state. Your browser does not seem to be returning an appropriate cookie, probably because it has been configured to reject some or all cookies. To access this resource you must at least accept a cookie called 'Ucam-WebAuth-Session-S' from this web server. This can also happen if you follow a bookmark pointing a login page. This won't work - to create a shortcut to a protected resource you should bookmark the page you arrive at immediately after authenticating. This cookie will be deleted when you quit your web browser. It contains your identity and other information used to manage authentication.
